The Didcot Twinning Association (DTA) is run by a Committee made up of enthusiastic volunteers who facilitate Didcot’s twinning links with Meylan, near Grenoble, France and Planegg, near Munich, Germany.
We are grateful to Didcot Town Council for their support of the Twinning Association especially through the regular award of grants and also to our other sponsors for their generous help from time to time. Without this support we would not be able to achieve so much.
What do we do?
– promote twinning as a valuable community initiative
– coordinate the official twinning visits by residents of Didcot and the surrounding villages to Meylan and Planegg and organise the hosting and programme for when our friends from Meylan and Planegg come to Didcot.
– encourage other groups such as schools, and clubs and associations to link with similar groups in our partner towns. We do not have the resources to lead and manage these links but we are able to make introductions and give advice.
– hold fund raising events (plant sales, coffee mornings, etc) to supplement our Town Council grant to be able to provide our guests from Meylan and Planegg with an excellent experience when they come to Didcot.
Twinning is a fantastic way to expand horizons, to get to know the real France or Germany, to identify new opportunities and to make new friends – why not join us?!
Membership of the Association is open to all citizens of Didcot and its surrounding villages (Chilton, Harwell, East and West Hagbourne, North and South Moreton, Blewbury, Upton).
Newcomers to Didcot

Phil & I relocated to Didcot in July 2013. Not knowing the area or anybody and with Phil at work I had to find new interests & friends and one organisation I wanted to investigate was The Twinning Association. We went along to the Clubs & Societies Day and met a few of the committee & decided to become involved. Both of us are Francophiles & have a little knowledge of Germany. The social evenings organised at Cornerstone were a way in which we began to get to know a few other members of the Association and who also gave us more information about what was involved. …..more
